Convert PDF to DOCX Online, Free
Got a PDF you need to edit? Drop it on PDF to Word and download a .docx. Here's how, and what to do if it's a scan.

A contract came back as a PDF and you need to change two lines. Or it's a résumé, a form, last year's report. PDFs aren't made for editing, so the quick fix is PDF to DOCX: turn it into the file Word opens and edits. Drop it on our PDF to Word tool and you get a .docx back.
How to convert a PDF to DOCX
- Open PDF to Word and drop your PDF on the box that says Drag & Drop or Choose File to Upload, or click the box and pick the file.
- Your PDF opens in our editor. Click the yellow Download button at the top. (On a phone it's just a download icon with a small arrow.)
- Choose Word, the first thing in the list, marked .docx.
The download takes a free account. If you're not signed in, you'll be asked to sign up, and the file downloads once you are.
It works in your browser, on a computer or a phone, so there's nothing to install.
What you get back
A .docx file, not the older .doc. It opens in Microsoft Word, and in Google Docs, Pages and LibreOffice too, with text you can edit.
The PDFs that convert best are the ones that started out as documents, like a file exported from Word or Google Docs. A page with a lot going on (columns, text boxes, words laid over a photo) might need a little tidying once it's in Word.
If your PDF is a scan
A scanned PDF is a picture of a page. There may be no actual text in it for Word to work with, just an image of the words.
Run it through OCR PDF first. It reads the text in a scan and makes it searchable, so you can find, select and copy it. Then drop the PDF it gives you on PDF to Word.
