PrintFriendly in AI Assistants

Ask your AI assistant to print a web page and PrintFriendly gives you a clean version, without the ads, pop-ups and navigation, ready to print or save as a PDF. It works in Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft 365 Copilot and Meta Muse, and in any assistant that can connect to MCP servers.

Connecting

Find PrintFriendly in your assistant's list of connectors, apps or plugins, and connect it. If your assistant lets you add one by its address, use this URL:

Paste a link and say what you want. PrintFriendly works on public web pages.

  • “Print this recipe without all the ads”, with the link.
  • “Save this article as a PDF.”
  • “Print this article for my class, without the pop-ups.”

The Print Preview

In Claude, ChatGPT and Microsoft 365 Copilot, a print preview appears right in the chat, with Print and Download PDF buttons. Open it full screen to click away any part of the page, make the text smaller or larger, hide the images, or switch between Letter and A4. Print and Download PDF use exactly what you see.

Assistants that can't show the preview give you a link to the same clean page on printfriendly.com instead, where you can do all of the same things.

Signing In

You can print 5 pages without an account. A page counts once, when you ask for it to be printed or made into a PDF: the preview's own buttons, and asking for the same page again, don't count.

After that, your assistant asks you to sign in to PrintFriendly (in Claude, a Connect button in the chat). Sign in with your PrintFriendly account, or create one, and keep going.

Microsoft 365 Copilot

Copilot asks you to sign in to PrintFriendly before your first print.

Common Questions

Does PrintFriendly see my conversation?#

No. Your assistant sends us only the address of the page you asked about. We don't receive the rest of the chat. Our privacy policy has the details.

A page won't print, or comes out wrong#

PrintFriendly fetches the public version of the page, so anything behind a login or a paywall, or a site that blocks automated visitors, may come out empty or partial. Some pages are also refused by our content-safety checks. Try the same link on printfriendly.com; if it's wrong there too, the troubleshooting page covers the usual causes.

My assistant says I've reached the limit for now#

There is an hourly limit on how often PrintFriendly can be used, to keep it fast for everyone. Wait a little while and try again. Signing in gives you a limit of your own.

How long do PDFs stay available?#

48 hours. Download the PDF if you want to keep it, or ask for it again.

How do I disconnect or sign out?#

Remove or disconnect PrintFriendly in your assistant's settings. Changing your PrintFriendly password also signs out every connected assistant, within the hour.
