PrintFriendly in Claude
Connecting
In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, find PrintFriendly in the directory and select Connect. You can start using it right away, without signing in.
To add it by address instead, choose Add custom connector, enter this URL, and pick Sign in when needed:
https://www.printfriendly.com/api/mcpWhat to Ask
Paste a link and say what you want. PrintFriendly works on public web pages, the same as printfriendly.com.
- “Print this recipe without all the ads”, with the link. You get a print preview with Print and Download PDF buttons.
- “Save this article as a PDF.” Claude makes the PDF and gives you a link to it.
- “Show me this page without the ads.” You get the same clean preview.
Print opens the PDF in your browser, ready to print. Download PDF saves it.
Editing Before You Print
Select Customize on the preview to open it full screen. From there you can:
- Turn on Delete and click any part of the page to remove it, such as an author bio or a list of related links. Undo brings back the last thing you removed.
- Make the text smaller or larger.
- Show or hide the images.
- Choose Letter or A4 paper.
Print and Download PDF use exactly what you see.
Signing In
You can print 5 pages without an account. A page counts once, when you ask Claude to print it or make a PDF of it: the preview's Print and Download PDF buttons, and asking for the same page again, don't count.
When you ask for a new page after that, Claude shows a Connect button in the chat. Sign in with your PrintFriendly account, or create one, and keep going.
Common Questions
Does PrintFriendly see my conversation?#
No. Claude sends us only the address of the page you asked about. We don't receive the rest of the chat. Our privacy policy has the details.
A page won't print, or comes out wrong#
PrintFriendly fetches the public version of the page, so anything behind a login or a paywall, or a site that blocks automated visitors, may come out empty or partial. Some pages are also refused by our content-safety checks. Try the same link on printfriendly.com; if it's wrong there too, the troubleshooting page covers the usual causes.
Claude says I've reached the limit for now#
There is an hourly limit on how often PrintFriendly can be used, to keep it fast for everyone. Wait a little while and try again. Signing in gives you a limit of your own.
How long do PDFs stay available?#
48 hours. Download the PDF if you want to keep it, or ask Claude to make it again.
How do I disconnect or sign out?#
Remove or disconnect PrintFriendly in Claude's connector settings. Changing your PrintFriendly password also signs out every chat connection, within the hour.
